What Makes India So Special?

India is defined by its scale, stretching from the Himalayan peaks to the Indian Ocean. Its geography shifts from the Rajasthan deserts to the tropical backwaters of the south. This diversity has created a culture that blends ancient traditions with a modern energy found in both its high-tech cities and quiet temple towns.

This depth comes from a history of overlapping eras. As a cradle of early civilization, India has a long legacy of philosophy and art. Over millennia, it became the birthplace of four major religions and the center of the Mughal Empire. Today, ancient Buddhist caves and Hindu temples coexist with the Art Deco and modern architecture of cities like Mumbai and Delhi.

Today’s India is a mix of the old and the new. You will see skyscrapers and luxury shops alongside medieval stepwells and traditional bazaars. India has absorbed centuries of internal change and outside contact to create a resilient identity. It is a place where history provides the backdrop for a culture that is active, creative, and unique.

Cuisine

Indian cuisine is a celebration of the earth, where fragrant biryani brings together a spiced medley of long-grain rice and tender meat, and golden dosa offers a crisp, fermented take on the classic lentil and rice crepe. Beyond standard definitions of street food, India has turned simple, regional ingredients into a complex craft that has shaped the flavors of the subcontinent for generations.

Weather

India’s climate is defined by its vast size, characterized by several distinct seasonal shifts. While the northern plains experience a hot summer and a crisp, sunny winter, the southern peninsula stays tropical and warm year-round. Most of the country is shaped by the monsoon, which brings significant rainfall and cooler air during the summer months. Temperatures vary between the humid coastal regions and the dry heat of the interior deserts. This variety across the subcontinent makes it a versatile destination, with different regions reaching their peak at different times of the year.

Language

India is home to a linguistic landscape that serves as a direct gateway to its history. The country recognizes 22 official languages, ranging from the ancient, classical roots of Tamil in the south to the various Indo-Aryan dialects of the north. While Hindi is the most widely spoken, this immense diversity is the true heartbeat of daily life across the subcontinent. English frequently acts as a common bond in urban centers and among the younger generation, serving as a practical bridge for communication across India's many states.

What Inspired This Itinerary?

We love India. When designing this itinerary, we wanted to make sure you not only had the most fun with your fellow travelers, but that you got to visit places most tours don't take the time to. You'll experience a wide breadth of what there is to in India, ensuring that if this is your one trip to the country, you'll return home more than satisfied. There are so many hidden gems and surprises waiting for you.
